The Algorithm Is Renting You Land
If your sleep depends on FYP whims, you're not a founder. You're just a technician.
The algorithm is not your friend. The metric that matters is control.
It is a temporary, non-binding contract engineered to keep you running in place. If 80% of your time is spent optimizing for a machine that changes its rules weekly, you are building a mansion on borrowed land. The real metric is control.
Everyone is a hostage to the feed. They call it "optimization," but we call it Stockholm Syndrome. You are building equity for a platform that has no fiduciary duty to you. The landlord - the platform - just sent over a 48-hour eviction notice disguised as a "new feature," and you are scrambling to comply.
This behavior erodes your unique voice, your operational time, and your financial stability. Every creator who has built generational wealth did so by becoming indispensable to their audience, not compliant to the platform.
We must design content for maximum impact against the platform, not maximum compliance with it. The solution is a deliberate act of subtraction. You must identify the 20% of your content - your tentpole IP - that generates 80% of your edge. That means ownership, direct revenue, and audience mobility.
3-Platform Dependency Audit: Score your content matrix (A-F) based on these three criteria...
1. Mobility: How quickly could this asset be moved to a new platform if the dominant one disappeared tomorrow?
2. Monetization: Does this asset generate revenue directly (e.g., a course, a product, merch) or only through ad-share?
3. Maintenance: Can this asset be maintained without the platform's specific tools (e.g., filters, music library)?
If you score an 'F' across the board, you do not have a content problem. You have a security problem. Build necessary assets, not disposable ones.
The algorithm gives you breadcrumbs. We build railroads. Stop taking dictation from a spreadsheet. Unfollow the feed.
